Getting a Karachi cafe or restaurant found on Google Maps

The listing settings, photographs, menus and reviews that decide whether a hungry person in Karachi finds your place or the one next door.

In Karachi, a decision about where to eat tonight is usually made on a phone, on Google Maps or Instagram, in the minute before someone gets into the car. The places that win that minute are not always the best ones. They are the ones whose listing answers every question before it is asked.

What decides which cafes show up first?

Google says it ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. Distance you cannot change. Relevance comes from the category, the menu and the words in the listing. Prominence comes from reviews, photographs, mentions elsewhere and how active the listing is. A complete listing that posts and replies regularly will often outrank a better restaurant a street away whose listing was claimed once and forgotten.

SettingWhat to do

Phone and WhatsAppA number someone answers during opening hours

PhotographsThe food, the room, the front door at night, so people recognise it

What should a restaurant post?

One post a week is enough if it is real: a new dish, a deal for a match night, a change in timings. Short video made for Instagram can be reused here. The point is not volume; it is showing Google and the customer that the place is open, active and worth the drive.

How do you get more good reviews?

Ask at the right moment: a card on the table with the bill, or a message after a delivery that arrived hot. Never buy reviews or trade them for a free dessert; Google removes them and can suspend the listing, and a suspended listing in a busy area is a disaster. Reply to every review, and to the angry ones calmly and specifically. The next customer reads the reply, not the complaint.

Why do Instagram and Foodpanda matter to Google?

Because they confirm who you are. When the name, address and phone read the same on the Google listing, Instagram, Foodpanda and any food guide, both Google and the AI assistants that answer "best cafe in DHA" can be confident they are looking at one place. When they disagree, you look like two businesses, and neither is trusted.

What does this cost to have done?

Claiming and filling in the listing is free and an owner can do it in an afternoon. Where we come in is keeping it alive alongside the rest: Starter's search option at $2,000 a month covers page optimisations, a researched article and Google Business posts every month, and the content option covers short videos and carousels for Instagram. Our studio is in DHA Phase 8, so the first call can be in person.

When is this not worth paying for?

When the place is already full every night and the problem is the kitchen, not the queue. Search brings people to the door; it cannot bring them back a second time. Fix the food and the service first, and spend on being found when there are empty tables to fill.
