Shopify SEO for stores that sell
Shopify search engine optimisation (SEO) is making a store's collection and product pages the answer to what buyers type. We rewrite titles and descriptions for the search, clean up the duplicate paths Shopify creates, check the product structured data your theme prints, and write the buying guides a category needs. Search is $2,000 a month on its own; a store build is quoted separately.
In detail
What does Shopify get wrong for search out of the box?
Less than it used to, but enough to matter. A product placed in several collections can be reached at more than one address, and many themes link to the longer one, so internal links undo the work the canonical tag does. Collection pages often carry no text at all, so there is nothing for a search to match. Product descriptions are frequently the manufacturer's, shared word for word with every other stockist. And theme structured data often has gaps. Each is a small fix; together they decide which store Google shows.
Which pages should a Shopify store optimise first?
Collections, then products, then the blog. A collection page is where someone searching for a category lands, so it needs a real title, a short paragraph that answers the search and filters that make sense. Product pages come next, because they answer the specific searches: the name, the material, the size. A blog earns its place only with buying guides and care guides a buyer would actually read, linked to the products they mention.
How we run search on a Shopify store
Read Search Console and the theme
What the store already appears for, which pages Google has indexed and which it has ignored, and what the theme prints into every page's code.
Fix the structure
Internal links pointed at the clean product address, thin and duplicate pages kept out of the index, product structured data checked against what the page shows.
Rewrite the collections
A title and an opening paragraph for each collection, written to the search, with the questions buyers ask answered below the products.
Rewrite the products
Your own description in place of the manufacturer's, with the details people search for: material, size, fit, care, delivery.
Report by page and by sale
Which pages gained visits from search and what those visits bought, read from Shopify rather than estimated.
What we can show, and what we cannot yet
Seyr's storefront was built by us around the purchase: structure, product presentation and checkout designed for the buyer, then handed over and run by the client from the first day. That is a build, not a search result, and we present it as one.
We have not published a search figure for a Shopify store, and we will not borrow one. What we can show is the method on this site: answer-first pages, structured data that only says what the page says, and a monthly report that names the pages that moved and the ones that did not.
What we will not do to your store
- Install an app for every search problem. Most slow the store down and do what a theme edit would.
- Buy links, or a backlink package of any size.
- Write product copy an engine would rank and a buyer would skip.
- Promise a position, or a date for page one.
Questions
The questions that follow.
Do you work with any Shopify theme?
Yes. Most fixes live in the theme's templates and the content, and every code change is sent for your review before it ships.
Will a search app do this for me?
Some help with one task, such as image text or redirects. None writes the collection page your buyers need or decides which pages should exist.
Do you also build Shopify stores?
Yes: the store, the photography and the ads that feed it. Search can run on a store we built or one you already have.
What does Shopify SEO cost?
Starter's search option is $2,000 a month: four page optimisations, one researched article and Google Business posts. A large catalogue is scoped on its own.
Does this help with AI shopping answers too?
Yes. Assistants that recommend products read the same product pages and structured data, so clear, specific pages serve both.
